The PACE Organization of Rhode Island (PACE-RI) has successfully deployed CareHub, an electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management system developed by IntusCare specifically for value-based elder care models. This implementation represents a significant technological advancement for PACE organizations nationwide. IntusCare's comprehensive implementation approach included an immersive, collaborative process designed to ensure seamless integration. The strategy involved in-person workflow discovery sessions, frequent operational alignment meetings, and an extensive four-day training bootcamp across multiple PACE-RI centers.
PACE-RI's leadership emphasized the platform's unique design, tailored explicitly for PACE programs. Joan Kwiatkowski, Chief Executive Officer, noted that CareHub was developed "with PACE" in mind, focusing on the distinctive needs of their care model. The new system is expected to deliver substantial operational improvements, including enhanced interdisciplinary team coordination, reduced documentation time, and increased visibility across clinical and administrative workflows. Liz Boucher, Chief of Organizational Performance, highlighted the platform's potential to create a more efficient work environment and ultimately improve participant care.
PACE-RI played a pivotal role in CareHub's development through its participation in the CareHub Product Steering Committee. This collaborative approach allowed frontline staff and leadership to directly influence feature development, including innovative tools for interdisciplinary tasking, care planning, and compliance support. The implementation represents a significant milestone for both organizations, with IntusCare's CEO Robbie Felton describing it as "the start of a new era in how technology supports participant care."
As a federally designated care model serving 80,000 participants across 33 states, PACE programs provide comprehensive medical and social services for nursing home-eligible adults who prefer to remain in their communities. PACE-RI specifically serves the entire state of Rhode Island, with centers in East Providence, Newport, Westerly, and Woonsocket. The successful deployment of this specialized technology platform demonstrates how targeted digital solutions can address the unique challenges of value-based care models for elderly populations, potentially serving as a blueprint for similar organizations seeking to enhance both operational efficiency and quality of care through technology integration.
