The Utah Healthcare Innovation Network (UHIN) has announced its first cohort of healthcare startups, showcasing Utah's potential to transform healthcare technology. The seven selected companies represent diverse innovations addressing critical healthcare challenges, from surgical technologies to cardiac screening and diagnostic solutions. The cohort includes Bloom Surgical, which developed LaparoVision, a surgical lens cleaning mechanism, and Diagnostic Ventures, focused on optimizing rapid diagnostic technologies. Other startups include DigiBeat, which aims to simplify cardiac screening, and Micromist Rx, which has created a prescription-controlled inhaler designed to improve drug delivery and reduce potential abuse.
UHIN's comprehensive accelerator program provides participating startups with structured growth strategies, mentorship, fundraising education, and entrepreneurial skill development. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving Park City Angels, BioUtah, BioHive, and the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity. The selected companies will undergo a 10-week mentoring program that includes bi-weekly sessions focused on scaling effectively and avoiding common startup challenges. Participants will receive guidance on product-market fit, financial management, team building, and utilizing tools like the Business Model Canvas.
Additional innovative startups in the cohort include FrostByte, developing temperature-monitoring glove liners to prevent frostbite, NeuroRobotic Technologies with its Electronic Grip Gauge for rehabilitation, and RefloDx, which has created technology to diagnose laryngopharyngeal reflux more efficiently. Through this program, UHIN aims to improve healthcare affordability, accessibility, and provider experience while positioning Utah as a national and global leader in healthcare innovation. The diverse range of technologies represented demonstrates the potential for transformative solutions that could significantly impact patient care and medical technologies.
