The Parent Coaching Institute has launched a new initiative called Technology Success Stories, where parents share their experiences and strategies for managing children's technology use through audio interviews. Gloria DeGaetano, CEO and founder of the institute, emphasized the importance of parent voices in technology discussions, stating that every child and family has unique approaches to healthy technology use. Within this resource, parents participate in audio interviews with DeGaetano, with brief summaries available on the website, showcasing parents of children across all ages and developmental stages.
One parent featured in the initiative, Reem, shared her journey of realizing that putting her 3-year-old in front of a screen was contributing to behavioral issues. During her conversation, she explained how observing her child and following parental instincts helped her discover effective alternatives. When possible, research is shared that supports parents' decisions and success strategies. In Reem's case, a link is provided to sobering data showing that more than four hours of daily screen time for babies and toddlers increases their risk for autistic symptoms.
Upcoming interviews will feature parents of teenagers and an interview with PCI Certified Parent Coach® and instructor Tierney Boggs. Boggs, author of a children's book and a book for parents, will discuss how she and her husband adjusted screen time rules as their three children grew and what they learned about their family values in the process.
DeGaetano emphasizes that parents possess significant wisdom and creativity in supporting their children, noting that the Technology Success Stories resource features inspiring real-world ideas rather than expert mandates. The Parent Coaching Institute is recognized as an innovative leader in family support and offers a year-long, online Parent Coach Certification® program in affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2026 Spring Term, with a deadline of February 1. More information is available at www.ThePCI.org.
