SS Innovations International, Inc. announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system has been approved for telesurgeries in Indonesia and the Philippines. The company also reported that more than 150 cumulative telesurgeries have been successfully performed using the system, primarily in India. This milestone represents significant progress in making robotic surgery accessible across geographical boundaries.
Recent demonstrations of the system's capabilities include an eight-hour session on February 14, 2026, during which 18 inter-hospital telesurgeries were performed between two Indian cities. These included 13 gastric bypass procedures performed by Dr. Mohit Bhandari from Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics in Indore and 5 complex gynecological surgeries performed by Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar from HER Health Hospital in Bhopal. All procedures utilized the SSi MantrAsana Tele Surgeon Console, a compact chair-based version of the larger command center designed for portability and space efficiency.
This achievement follows a previous robotic telesurgery marathon on December 23, 2025, when nine surgeons performed 24 telesurgeries within 12 hours on patients across multiple Indian locations. The procedures included ten different types of surgeries, including intricate cardiac operations. Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated that the system is pioneering telesurgery in real-world practice with growing adoption by leading physicians. He emphasized that the technology empowers cross-sharing of expertise and dismantles traditional geographical barriers to care.
The company will showcase these capabilities further during the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference 2026 (SMRSC 2026), scheduled for April 9-11, 2026, in New Delhi. During this event, more than 20 live telesurgeries will be performed using the SSi Mantra across multiple specialties led by top experts. Registration information is available at https://ssinnovations.com/SMRSC_2026/register/.
The SSi Mantra system features modular robotic arms, an ergonomic surgeon command center, a 3D 4K monitor, and supports over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments for various specialties including cardiac surgery. The system has been clinically validated in India for more than 100 different surgical procedures. Company updates and information are available through their website at https://ssinnovations.com.
